Log into the platform and get support

Upswing works with your school to provide support for tutoring, advising, mental health, and more. In order to log in, click the button below and select your school from the drop down. Donโ€™t see your school? Tell us who to contact at your school and weโ€™ll do our best toย work with them to bring Upswing to your campus.

Student FAQs

Upswing is a student success platform designed to support students along their academic journey. It offers:

a.ย  Tutoring: Connect with Upswing or campus tutors for help with your classes.

b. Assignment Review: Submit a writing assignment for detailed feedback by a tutor.

c. Mental Health Resources: Access tools and guidance to support your well-being.

d. Advising Services: Schedule meetings with academic or career advisors.

You should begin by going to your schoolโ€™s Upswing URL. If you donโ€™t know what that is, visit https://upswing.io/select-school/ and search for the name of your school. Once you have found your school, you should be taken to its specific Upswing login page.

Depending on the school / institution you attend, youโ€™ll be prompted to login in one of the following ways:

Method 1: Logging In With Your School Credentials
If your school uses this method, your login page will have instructions prompting you to login with your school credentials, similar to the screenshot below.

Method 2: Logging In Through Your Schoolโ€™s Login Portal
If your school uses this method, your login page will have a Log In button, like the example below. Clicking this button will take you to your schoolโ€™s login portal, where youโ€™ll use your school credentials to login to Upswing.

Method 3: Creating an Upswing Account
If your school / institution uses this method, your login page will have a button that says New User, like the example below. Once you click the New User button, youโ€™ll follow the steps to create your account.

Once you’re logged into the Upswing platform, click Tutoring on the left menu bar.

Step 1: Search for Your Subject
In the search bar, search for the class you need help with by typing your course ID or full course name. Searching for broad subject areas like “Math” or “History” might not show the specific class you need help with.

Step 2: Filter the Results

Once you search for your class, youโ€™ll be able to see all of the tutors able to help. You can also use the filters on the left side of the screen to refine your results by date, time of day, location, and length of session. Step 3: Schedule a Session

If a tutorโ€™s profile is highlighted green, you can meet with them right away for an immediate session by clicking the Get Tutored Now button.

To schedule a session at a later time, click the Schedule button below the tutorโ€™s profile to schedule your session.ย

Upload Files to Review With Your Tutor
Before your session, you can upload any presentations, class notes, or assignments youโ€™d like to review with your tutor. Learn more with this article: How do I upload files before a session?

Prepare Questions or Concepts to Cover During Your Session
Take a few minutes before your session to write down some questions that you would like to ask your tutor!

Learn about the Virtual Learning Center (VLC)

The VLC is where students meet with tutors for online tutoring sessions. Before your first session, take a look at these articles to learn about how to communicate within the VLC and the different tools available to use:

Join Your Online Session

Five minutes before your session is scheduled to begin, youโ€™ll be able to join the Virtual Learning Center. Go to your Tutoring page, scroll down to the Upcoming Sessions box, and click on the green Go To Room button.

Cancel Your Session If You Canโ€™t Make It
It’s very easy to cancel an upcoming appointment if you realize you won’t be able to make it. Out of courtesy to the tutor, it’s a good idea to cancel as soon as you know that you have a conflict so that the tutor can use that time for other sessions. With Assignment Review, you can submit an assignment youโ€™ve written to Upswing, and a tutor will provide you with feedback before you have to turn it in. All you have to do is go to the Assignment Review page, fill out the submission form, attach your file, and click Submit! After your assignment has been successfully submitted, it will appear in the Current Submissions box.

Once your tutor has reviewed your assignment, you’ll receive an email letting you know that your review is complete. Log into your Upswing account, go to the Assignment Review page, and click on the blue View button next to your assignment in the Current Submissions section of the page.ย 

On the Activity tab, you communicate with the tutor reviewing your assignment, and download your feedback by clicking on the hyperlinked document!ย

Upswing’s Writing Lab is designed to help students through the entire writing process. The Writing Lab contains a library of videos designed to provide guidance on key topics like the writing process as a whole, how to get started drafting a paper, revising and editing your draft, and tips on how to correctly format your assignment.

To access the Writing Lab, log into your Upswing account and click on Visit Upswingโ€™s Writing Lab on the home page!

How to Access the Mental Health Module
To access Upswingโ€™s Mental Health Module, log into your Upswing account and click Access mental health support on the home page, or click on Mental Health in the left menu.

Resources Available in the Mental Health Module
Upswing’s Mental Health Module is designed to support students’ well-being by providing students with the following:
– Information about emergency mental health resources in the area.
– Access to more than 160 educational videos by PsychHub. Learn more about PsychHubโ€™s videos here: Student Guide: PsychHub’s Mental Health Videos
– Teletherapy through BetterMynd. Learn more about BetterMynd here: Student Guide: Accessing BetterMynd for Teletherapy

Please note: Your school may not have all of these resources within the Mental Health Module. If you have any questions about the resources available to you, please contact our Support Team at support@upswing.io.
